The last few weeks during the school holidays I was struggling to stay keto all the time. I generally wanted to eat more than usual and I kept eating a few things off plan.
On Monday we went into London for the day. We started at St Paul's and walked over the Millennium Bridge. It was the first time I had walked across in since it was erected 18 years ago.
We went into the Tate Modern building just to look at the building. We thought we might see the Picasso exhibition but it was going to cost about £100 and as we didn't want to spend too long in the museum we decided not to see the exhibition.
The Tate Modern is situated in an old power station so we walked across the part that was the turbine room. We walked across on the lower level and the bridge on the upper level.
We also went on to the roof and looked out across London. I never tire of the view over London.
We then walked along the south bank and found a little restaurant beside the Thames.
I was really happy with my lunch. I chose pork chop without the potatoes and just salad. I also ordered a side of broccoli with chilli and garlic. It was all really tasty.
We then walked along the South Bank to the London Eye, where we got a boat to Greenwich. Whilst on the boat my son asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I really fancied some chocolate and asked for a chocolate bar and got a small Dairy Milk bar. I ate 3 squares.
By the time we got to Greenwich it was a bit late for the museums so we walked up to the Royal Observatory. We wanted to straddle the time line but it was a bit late so we just saw the Great Equatorial Telescope.
We had a lovely day out.
This week I was much stricter, apart from the chocolate. I also did a 24 hour fast. It wasn't particularly planned but now I go to Tae Kwondo on a Thursday evening, which is at supper time so I thought if I am not hungry on those evenings I would skip supper.
On Thursday I went to a breakfast meeting and had a large breakfast, then I had a small lunch. Then I didn't eat until Friday lunchtime. I am now finding 24 hour fasts much easier, especially if I am not around other people eating.
This month is the Autumn Equinox (Solstice 23rd September) and it is considered a time for clearing and for cleansing and detoxification. It can also be a time when people get ill because they're letting go of stuff. People particularly get colds because everything's trying to come out, all the mucus wants to come out of your body.
I'm going be making the most of the equinox and am going to do a three-day fast extended fast. I've done quite a few 24-hour fasts, also a 42 hour and then 48 hour fast. Now I'm going to take it a step up and do a three day fast. I am doing it with an ex-client of mine from my birthing days. She's doing a lot of birthing stuff now.
I posted it in my Facebook group and also another keto Facebook group that I belong to. I think there's going to be about half a dozen of us doing it for that same period, which would be great because we'll have each other to support each other and keep us going.
My starting weight in June 2017 was 231.8lbs
Last Saturday was 193.8lbs
This Saturday was 191.6lbs
That's a loss of:
2.2 lbs for the week
Loss of 12.2lbs since the beginning of week 1
I hit the 40lbs and only 2lbs off 3 stone. I am so pleased with myself.
It has taken me a long time to lose those last few pounds.
It might just be a bounce down and might bounce up again.
I am now more than 10lbs below my yearly average.
This week I bought another book. I must stop buying books. The Keto Ice Cream Scoop, I heard about this on a podcast.
I am not a great ice cream eater, I only like ice cream from a local shop called Rossi's. I am not bothered by ice cream but I really fancied trying the ice cream.
I have requested an ice cream churner for my birthday next month. I'll let you know how it goes. I also have to buy ingredients and equipment.
I have still been running and doing my HIIT. I ran three times, HIIT twice and I went to Tae Kwon Do. Tae Kwon Do can be quite strenuous.
I decided that instead of trying to run longer, I will keep the time the same and try to speed up. With the 5 minute walk at each end I am almost hitting the 5K. I still have to get stronger and work in some inclines before trying running in the park.
I have increased from 1.5 miles to 1.7 miles.
My challenge for this week is to cook a main course dinner, one that I haven't cooked before so I'm going look for a recipe and try something new. We'll see how that works so watch this space, if I managed to do it because I don't cook very much.
Let me know if there is anything you would like me to talk about in the comments below.
